The TaoTao Thunder 50cc Moped Scooter is a gas-powered street-legal scooter built for short-distance commuting and local transportation. It runs on a 49.6cc air-cooled 4-stroke single-cylinder engine paired with a V-belt automatic transmission, allowing simple throttle-and-go riding.
Starting is handled by electric start with kick start backup. The engine produces 3.26 HP at 7000 RPM and 3.6 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM, with a top speed of 20–25 mph, depending on rider weight and road conditions.
The Thunder rides on 12-inch alloy rims fitted with 120/70-12 tires front and rear. Braking includes a front hydraulic disc brake and a rear drum brake, both hand operated. The scooter supports a maximum rider weight of 225 lbs.
Standard road equipment includes headlights, tail lights, turn signals, horn, and engine kill switch. A matching rear trunk is included for storage. This model is CARB approved for California, allowing registration where permitted.
